My Sister's Place

Since 2000, My Sister’s Place shelter has been a beacon of hope and healing for women and their children experiencing homelessness, showering all who enter with God’s love.

Founded by Marty Owens, the dream was to open a shelter that would be a sanctuary for women and children caught in a desperate situation with no place to call home.  Her goal was to demonstrate the love of God in such a way that hope would be restored to the women and children in her care. Today, My Sister’s Place has grown into a home where hundreds of women and children have received nutritious meals, clothing, transportation assistance, childcare assistance, life skills training, case management, and spiritual enrichment.  Join us as we journey alongside My Sister's Place offering hope and comfort, along with the tools and resources necessary for them to reclaim their independence.

THE PROBLEM

Most children living in mobile home park communities in the US are not growing up to become flourishing adults. This is a result of many factors including lack of access to positive adult relationships and the lack of basic academic, social and emotional skills needed to succeed in school and in life. As a result, they're stuck in the status quo of surviving rather than thriving

THE SOLUTION

But there is a solution - a better way forward that's centered on what we call the 5 Ingredients to Flourishing. We believe that God desires for all people to thrive. But what does that look like?  Scroll down to learn more about what we believe a flourishing human being looks like.
